Christmas Cards
Cards I made for Christmas, 2018
Gift Tags
I decided to make some Christmas gift tags this year, as I’ll be spending Christmas with my daughter and grandchildren, and my gifts will join all the others under their tree.
I made six different designs with five of each design. Hopefully, that’ll be more than enough!
Snowflakes
These were simple enough.
Cut out the tags, then use a die to cut the snowflakes, leaving enough room above for writing.
Christmas Trees
As above, except this time I used my scan’n’cut to cut out the trees.
Christmas Trees
Second version
Cut out the tags. Cut out the trees and add a little glitter to the stars. Then mount the trees on the tags.
Christmas Stockings
Using my scan’n’cut I cut out the stocking and the ‘cuff ‘, then glued the cuff over the stocking top.
Snowman
Cut out the tag, then stick some double sided tape across the tag in line with the bottom of the hat. Before taking off the tape backing I spread glue above and sprinkled with glitter. Then I removed the backing from the tape, added a piece of ribbon and trimmed it to the side of the tag, then drew the face
Santa
Use a die to cut a scalloped circle (beard), then cut a smooth edged circle slightly smaller for the face. Cut a strip for the hat fur, straight along the top edge and scalloped along the bottom. Also cut a triangle for the hat, a small circle for the pompom and a very small circle for the nose (I used a hole punch).
Score and fold the scalloped circle in half and stick it to the face just below the centre, add the nose, half on the beard and half on the face. Glue the hat to the top part of the face and add the ‘fur’ strip.
If your hat card is coloured on both sides you can fold the hat down. Mine wasn’t so I cut off the top of the hat, at an angle, and stuck it in position on the lower part of the hat, then added the pompom. Two dots for eyes to finish it off!
Finally, I punched a hole in all the tags and threaded some ribbon through.
Lonely this Christmas
Â
I admit, I’m not looking forward to Christmas and would, as late as last week, happily cancelled Christmas this year. However, I also got to thinking about the many past Christmases spent with Brian.
Brian was not a ‘Christmas person’, and we often bought him humbugs as a gift. 😉 But he made an effort every year to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves, so, as much as I’m not exactly looking forward, I decided I was going to make the effort, otherwise I feel as though I’d be letting Brian, my family and myself, down.
So, I put the tree up and the lights at the window, and as I did, my thoughts were drawn to family, friends and anyone else who, like me, have lost loved ones this year, and will be spending their first Christmas without their dear ones near.
Also to others who are heading for their second, third, tenth or more, Christmas without those close to them. That’s not to say that we don’t miss our loved ones all the time, just that at this time of year, we may miss them a bit more.
I’m one of the lucky ones, I have a loving family who I’ll be spending Christmas with. Not everyone is that fortunate and some may have no one to spend the holidays with.
No matter who or where you are, my thoughts will be with you all this Christmas. xx
