Aki's GiftIt wasn’t that he was afraid of what would happen to him; Clarence was more worried about what he might do to the intruder, whoever it was, should they find him and corner him. Whatever was taking him over, inch by inch… it was an animal, just waiting to be let out of it’s cage.

The GladeHelen concentrated on her breathing in an effort to calm her thoughts, and then tried to create a mental shield. She was pretty hit and miss with this at the moment, and would need to practice assiduously if she were to have any chance of privacy or free will.

strangers-she-knows-by-christina-dodd-coverWaves swamped the small vessel; Max and Rae disappeared from view, and Kellen found herself on her toes, straining and screaming at them to come back, come out. As if her shouts lifted the SkinnySail, the boat rose, wobbled at the top of the wave, and finally thrust itself out of the surf and into the rough, grey seas beyond.

A Paris Fairy Tale
“I need access to his library, and as much information as he can give me about the manuscript. Even if it’s fake, which I don’t believe it is, we need some proof of ownership, a paper trail that shows where it comes from, and which may put its value up and help it reach a higher bidding price.”

The Fourth Victim
“I have a meeting with the chief about this and another case,” Swift explained, “I’ll bring her up to date on Turner and how things stand. He’s still my favourite for the killings but we need to figure out how Jenny Cowan fits into the picture, how her prints endd up on the bag and the motive behind her attempted suicide but for now she has to be a person of interest..

Scouse Gothic
He should have a cloak and pointed teeth and be able to turn into a bat, but the reality was so much more mundane: he couldn’t fly or change into anything and had no superhuman powers, except much greater strength than someone of his age and build would normally be expected to have, plus, of course, an insatiable craving for fresh human blood and also, of course, he was immortal – but whether that was a good or bad thing depended very much on his frame of mind at any particular time. If someone had asked him last week he would probably have said it was a curse, but after last night he suddenly felt much more positive.

A Boy from the Streets
If I’d been Jose, I might have recognised the warning signs—the tone of his voice, his heightened colour, the stiff jut of his chin. I did see them, but I was not Jose, and my fear of this man was not as severe as the pain of starvation I’d lived through.
