Five Books – One Series – One Author

Looking for a good, easy to read paranormal series?
Try the Undead Unit Series by Markie Madden

Fang and Claw

Book 1

Fang and ClawOver a hundred years in the future, it’s a world where supernatural beings live and work among humans. Of course, the governments of the world have forced them to take the Undead Oath in order to gain citizenship; they must not prey on humans for food. They’re given tasks in jobs suited for their species, but just as among other minorities, they must struggle to prove themselves.

Lieutenant Lacey Anderson of the Dallas Police Department heads up a new elite squad dedicated to solving crimes involving Immortal species like herself. Lacey, a Vampire left for dead hundreds of years ago when her family was slaughtered by Werewolves, still has nightmares about the grievous ordeal.

Detective Colton Scarber is her unwilling partner and second-in-command of the unit. He’s a Werewolf, a descendant of those who killed Lacey’s family. She doesn’t know this, but she still doesn’t trust him from the start. When the fragile beginning of the team is threatened by the truth, can they learn to trust one another as partners must, or will the Undead Unit be doomed to failure?

A mysterious suspect and strange, unknown physical evidence leads them to solve a case spanning decades, and leaves Lacey with no other choice but to rely on her enemy when her very life is in danger!

My review:

I loved this book, it grabbed me on the first page and didn’t let go ’til the end.

Set in a future where supernatural beings have been accepted in the human world, a unit of Immortals investigate crimes committed by other Immortal and undead creatures.

The authors portrayal of the world and the law enforcement of the future is well-written, descriptive, and entirely believable.

The characters are complex and dynamic. Lacey and Colton, the two main characters, have a complicated and tense relationship, which adds to their opposing personalities.

The story flows well and throws up a few surprises for the investigating pair, and for the reader.

Souls of the Reaper

Book 2

Souls of the Reaper

Someone’s stealing souls in Dallas. Can the Undead Unit stop it, before it’s too late? A rogue Reaper is on the loose in the city of Dallas. Su Xiong is a sociopath with no care for human life. He steals souls whose numbers are not yet up in order to become a more powerful Immortal. While he’s on the prowl to gain power, his soulless victims roam the streets without morals, without inhibitions, without any code of conduct or social mores.

Crime has risen tenfold: petty crimes, road rage, prostitution, drinking, and gambling. But for each soul that he captures and keeps, his own mental stability begins to degrade, a fact that Xiong is dangerously blind to. Can Lacey and Colton, along with Doctors Matthews and Dilorenzo, find him and stop him, before the insanity inside spoils the souls he holds within?

AmazonB&NiTunesKoboGooglePlay

My review:

This second book in the Undead Unit series is as good as the first.
Over two hundred pages of action and, edge of your seat, suspense.

Rookie, Kazz, joins Lacey and Colton as they race against time to bring down the rogue reaper, who’s stealing souls.

Kazz fits into the team perfectly and adds an extra dimension to the supernatural crime fighting unit, while Lacey and Colton’s personalities continue to develop as the story progresses.

Blood Lust

Book 3

Blood LustLacey is awakened by a chilling phone call. Her boyfriend, a Vampire, wakes alone in his home, covered in blood, with no memory of what happened. It looks as if he’s violated the Undead Oath, and fed on a human.

While he’s in custody, more reports come in from all over the city. Other Vampires, covered in human blood, know nothing about what they’ve done. Lacey and her team struggle to find the person responsible for framing Vampires for murder.

Can the Undead Unit put a stop to the worst hate crime in Dallas’ history, and can Lacey overcome accusing the man she loves of homicide?

AmazonB&NiTunesKoboGooglePlay

My review:

Having read the first two books in the Undead Unit series, I’ve got to know Lacey and Colton quite well, and settling into this, the third book, was like meeting up with old friends.

Kazz, who joined the team in book 2, was also present and we get to know her better as the three of them struggle to find who’s framing vampires, one of whom is Lacey’s boyfriend.

Once again, Markie’s portrayal of the world and the law enforcement of the future is descriptive and believable.

Another enjoyable read from Markie Madden

Siren Song

Book 4

Siren SongCan the Undead Unit resist the call of the Siren?

Singer/songwriter Briona Solis is one of the top musicians in the world. Her voice is acclaimed as the most radiant on the planet, and she has a gorgeous figure to match. When her band Solace books a two-week tour in Dallas, shows are sold out.

Kirsten Wagner is found in a deserted alley just minutes away from the concert. She’s in shock and barely alive; her eyes have been removed with surgical precision. The team struggles to gather information on their case, hoping to prevent another assault.

And Kirsten isn’t the only one. Each night brings a new victim. The Undead Unit must race against time to catch the perpetrator. Will they be able to resist the call of the Siren, or will these cases go unsolved forever?

AmazonB&NiTunesKoboGooglePlay

My review:

The fourth book in the series and another case for the Undead Unit to investigate.

Victims are turning up around Dallas with their eyes missing.  The only thing they have in common is that they attended a concert by Briona Solis.

With not much to go on Kazz goes undercover at the next concert only to go missing. Lacey and Colton race against the clock to stop her becoming yet another victim of a brutal attack.

The book is well written and the dynamics between the three investigators grows with each story.

Ashes to Ashes

Book 5

Ashes to AshesWith the success of Undead Units spreading through law enforcement agencies around the world, Lacey, Colton, and Kazz are sent to Egypt to teach Lacey’s friend, Chantay, how to form and manage an Undead Unit of her own.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian government is preparing to unveil a startling secret: the resurrection of ancient Pharaoh, Akhenaten, using DNA from this unpopular leader’s mummy to clone a new body for him. Egypt’s people despise Akhenaten; this King once tried to force monotheism across the land.

Long thought dead, an ancient  religious cult still lives on in the form of an Immortal Phoenix, who does everything in his power to prevent the reanimation of Egypt’s most infamous king. Can Lacey’s team, along with local authorities stop him before he sabotages this fantastic scientific breakthrough?

AmazonB&NiTunesKoboGooglePlay

My review:

Lacey, Colton and Kazz take a trip to help Lacey’s friend, Chantay, set up an Undead Unit in Egypt.

Whilst there, they become involved in a case which revolves around the Egyptian government, the resurrection of an ancient Pharaoh and a religious cult headed up by an Immortal Phoenix.

The team must cut through the misdirection and red tape of the authorities and  sift through bomb wreckage to discover the culprit and prevent disaster.

This is one of my favourite books of the series, as the author’s obvious love of all things Egyptian shines through.

Note:

Each book can be read as a stand-alone story as each is a separate case, but you wouldn’t have the background or feel the dynamics between the investigating team.

If you do pick up one of these books and read it, please leave a review.
It doesn’t have to be long and detailed, a few words will do 🙂

Polar Enemies

Emma Alisyn

PEHe went mad with grief and murdered his mate. Only she didn’t die, and the dark unicorn sorceress Elsaday has finally returned. Will she wreak vengeance on his clan down to the last cub, or will the Solstice moon bring peace and healing?

Excerpt:

“You don’t know me. You don’t know anything about me.” She hated that at this moment he was physically stronger than her. That she felt fragile. That she wanted to lean on his chest and let him comfort her.
Theon’s arms tightened. “That’s where you’re wrong, beauty. I know you. I killed you. And, now you’re back from the dead, and all I can think about is tasting your lips.”
“Don’t,” she whispered. “It’s easier if we’re enemies. Don’t make me fall in love with you when we hate each other.”
His lips curved, but there was no humor in his winter eyes. “Too late. For both of us.”
The kiss reawakened her heart, and then shattered it into pieces.

About the Author:

Emma Alisyn writes paranormal romance because being a SAHM isn’t like how it is on television. Her lions, tigers, and bears will most interest readers who like their alphas strong, protective and smokin’ hot; their heroines feisty, brainy and bootylicious; and their stories with lots of chemistry, tension and plenty of tender moments.

Her Christmas Wolf

Cecilia Lane

HCWWolf shifter Tommy Conri has been burned by love, but one woman has his inner wolf sitting up and taking notice every time her brown curls bounce past his window. Can foxy Faith’s dreams of sleigh rides and mistletoe kisses mend the wolf shifter’s heart?

Excerpt:

He approached slowly, almost as if afraid she’d dart away, and stroked fingers across her cheek. Then that smirk returned and he pulled something from behind his back. He dangled the mistletoe above her head. “This is what you do, isn’t it?”
Yes, Faith wanted to scream. She stared wide eyes at the bit of greenery and then dug deep for courage.
He wanted to play? She could tease, too.
She planted her hands on his chest and stood on tiptoe. A tiny press of her lips to his was all she gave.
Only, Tommy didn’t want to play games.

About the Author:

Cecilia Lane grew up in a what most call paradise, but she insists is humid hell. She escaped the heat with weekly journeys to the library, where she learned the basics of slaying dragons, magical abilities, and grand adventures.

When it became apparent she wouldn’t be able to travel the high seas with princes or party with rock star vampires, Cecilia hunkered down to create her own worlds filled with sexy people in complicated situations. She now writes with the support of her own sexy man and many interruptions from her goofy dog.

A Tiger’s Gift

Ariel Marie

ATGDixon Blackburn had almost let his mate slip through his fingers. Upon his return, he discovered that he had left more behind than just his mate.

Excerpt:

Deja crept back to her bed as slow as she could. She sent up a prayer that she could make it to the plush mattress, where she could potentially get at least one more hour of sleep. Her eyes were heavy and begged to shut. She took another step and reached her hand out.

Almost there.

The wood floor was usually unforgiving, but tonight, the big guy upstairs was looking out for her. She leapt and landed softly on the bed, then quickly crawled underneath her comforter as she tried to hide from the chilled air. She held her breath and peeked from beneath her cover and stared out across her small bedroom.

Quiet.

She sighed as she rolled over onto her side, and tucked her pillow beneath her head.

“Thank goodness,” she whispered.

Her three-month-old son, Augie, was still asleep. August Dixon Scarlett was her pride and joy. Right now, the little stinker had yet to master the art of sleeping through the night.
If she weren’t so tired she would laugh at herself. Life as a single mother to a three-month-old was certainly not glamorous, but she wouldn’t trade it for all the money in the world.
But she knew that one day it would come. She just had to hold out and continue working with him to finally get her much-needed, sleep-filled nights.

She peeked over at the small crib again and took in his still form. He was her angel, her everything.

She wished she didn’t have to do the single mom thing, but it was what it was. There was no way that she could contact his father and tell him that he had left her a little present.

She sighed.

His father.

There wasn’t a day that went by that she didn’t think of Dixon. He was her tall, dark, and handsome that she had met a year ago while working as a waitress at the Ski Bar and Grille. The minute their eyes had met, her body reacted to his like no other man before. He and his friends had kept her laughing all night while she served them, but it was him that she had eyes for, and he for her.

Dixon, as all other patrons of the Ski Bar and Grille, had come to Breckenridge for the fun, snow, and skiing. He had come into the bar a total of three times, always requesting to be seated in her section. By the last time, he had won her over with his intense amber eyes. Just remembering his heated look had her squeezing her legs shut.

How could a memory of a single look make her want him all over again?

About the Author:

Ariel Marie is an author who loves the paranormal, action and hot steamy romance. She combines all three in each and every one of her stories. For as long as she can remember, she has loved vampires, shifters and every creature you can think of. This even rolls over into her favorite movies! She loves a good action packed thriller! Throw a touch of the supernatural world in it and she’s hooked!

She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio where she currently resides with her husband and three beautiful children.

A Very Beary Christmas

Ever Coming & Lila Gray

aVBCDown in Shotgun Row, far away from Mardi Gras and the French Quarter, a crew of mismatched beasts clash and mangle mingle with their beasts and each other. None of them have found a mate. Their beasts are too fierce. Their manners too gnarly. Their reputations, vengeful and swift. Then Tansy moves into town, taking over her grandmother’s bakery, Etienne knows something is unique about her. One of the motley crew from the infamous Shotgun Row might have just found their his mate.

Excerpt:

I winked at her. “I know, darlin’. I’m doing okay, okay enough to help out someone I care about.”
She sprang to the defense. “I’ll pay you back. This is just a loan. With interest.”
Rolling my eyes, I answered, “You will not. But that was a good try. Go get your son and hurry it up. We’re losing daylight.”
“Oh—okay.” She grabbed her tattered purse and went outside, but of course, not past the back yard. While I sprinted back to my house and started up my truck, I couldn’t help but smile. She was back in my life again—returned like a hurricane to pick up their next victim and I was happy to be caught up in her storm.
I had a chance for her to be mine again. She’d always been mine in my heart and this time I wouldn’t be losing her to anyone.

About the Authors:

Her Perfect Christmas Dragon

Starla Night

HPCDCan this sweet, curvy pet groomer teach a gorgeous, implacable dragon shifter alien the true meaning of Christmas, or are they both about to get burned?

Excerpt:

Peridot shortened the distance, keeping the delectable, sugar-and-cinnamon-scented female at arm’s length. Close enough to rescue from another tumble. Far enough away to keep his unwelcome, nearly unmanageable desires in check.
Karmel hummed along with the holiday music as she wove between shoppers, her curves swinging as she walked. The tag on her threadbare dress curled up above the hem, tickling the back of her neck.
It took all of his will not to reach over and tuck it in.
Because if he did, he might not be able to stop himself from caressing her slender neck. And then tasting her delicate skin.
With his teeth.

About the Author:

Starla Night was born on a hot July at midnight. She hikes, scuba dives, and swims naked in the ocean. She writes about smoking-hot dragon-shifter billionaires and steamy alpha merman-shifters.

A Genie’s Sacrifice

Paulina Woods

AGSBeing a giver in the genie world is not as glamorous as humans think. For the length of the sentence, their life is not their own. When Persha is gifted to a polar bear shifter named Brandon, she prays that she will be able to guard her heart. But when they find themselves bouncing between worlds, the spark turns into a flame and it will take a sacrifice for them to find happiness.

About the Author:

Some people write because they love it, others because it pays the bills but for Paulina it’s a compulsion. Even before she published her first book she carried around notebooks to write in and could be found lost in thought as she scribbled away. From funny to dark, her thoughts flowed from her fingertips like water from an undying well. When she finally decided to publish it felt natural. This was what all her writing had been about over the years.

Her world may be a little dark and scary. Sometimes it may seem like she has fallen deep into a pool of despair but each character, each moment has been predestined from the beginning of time.

The Naughty List

AR DeClerck

TNLChristmas was never kind to Merry. Her best friend had disappeared one cold winter’s night, and she had lived her life in solitude ever since. But a chance encounter with a jolly neighbor leaves her with a very surprising gift under the Christmas tree.

Excerpt:

“So you left to find your parents?”
“No. I left because Krampus recruited me.”
She moved away from him to the other end of the couch. “Excuse me?”
He turned to her, his face hard but his eyes beseeching her to believe him. “Krampus recruited me.”
“To do what, exactly?” Her voice was shrill with barely controlled hysteria. The man she’d yearned for these last ten years was certifiably out of his mind.
“To take care of the Naughty List.”

About the Author:

A Touch of Tinsel

Angelique Armae

AToTWhen she flees a brutal relationship with an evil Fae prince, Irish witch Sloane McKinley falls into the arms of vampire selkie king Roane CuMara. But can she truly escape when the Fae prince threatens to destroy Sloane’s family if she doesn’t turn over Roane’s selkie pelt by Christmas Eve?

Excerpt:

There were two things alchemist Sloane McKinley knew never to do.
One—never misjudge a dark Fae. Those enticing creatures were nothing but empty souls behind their cunning masks. To destroy your magick, they’ll prey on your soul, pull you so far down the abyss, you’ll end up needing to be spoon fed.
Two—never engage a vampire selkie in hopes of earning his aid against said Fae. That mistake will only land you in the fangbearer’s bed—naked—your desires too stoked to be doused by anything less than complete submission to the beast.
Tonight she broke both rules.

About the Author:

Makk is a native New Yorker who loves all things royal, can trace her Irish roots back to the Scottish Highlands, is half Italian, and is owned by a long-haired Tuxedo feline. Her books have also been featured on Midwest Book Review’s Book Watch TV.

Wife. Mother. USA Today Bestselling Adventure Romance Novelist. Food assassin. Reading ninja. Self-proclaimed nerd. All-around goofball.

AR DeClerck spends her days wrangling a job, family and pets and she spends her nights writing romance novels from the comfort of her couch. She believes that LOVE is the greatest adventure of all, and she never wants her readers to forget the feeling of falling in love.

My Review:

13 short stories, 2 poems, and a novella.
I enjoyed all the stories in this book and have definitely discovered some ‘new to me’ authors, who I’ll be searching out for further reading.

From angels and demons, through shifters and vampires, to witches and zombies, and more! This anthology has them all.

There wasn’t a single tale that didn’t capture my attention and imagination. The stories were all interesting, well written and complete, though some of them left me wanting more…!

Black Vials by Sam Gregory was one of those stories. That one had a ‘To be continued…’ at the end, so I’ll be keeping my eye out for that.

I’d also like to read more about Lola from Angel’s Blood by Mirren Hogan, and I need to know what happens next with Jane from Reign of Evil by Simone Young.

All in all a great book by some great authors.

**I received an ARC of Damsels of Distress for an early review, and have since bought a copy!

Taming the Lion by Kerry Adrienne

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: August 14, 2017

0317_9781460397510_Taming the Lion_Kerry AdrienneFor Marco, heir to the lions’ throne, seizing control of the Cave of Whispers from the bear clan is more than just a quest—it’s fulfilling the legacy of his breed. But the latest crusade has left Marco gravely wounded in enemy territory and in the hands of Alicia, healer for the bears. An irresistibly sensuous adversary, Alicia presents a serious problem. She carries the scent of a mate.

Drawn to this dominant master of his den, Alicia knows her allegiance has been compromised. His brooding sexuality is testing her defenses, but falling in love with Marco means falling in league with a rival shifter. And turning her back on the bears in a time of war is a lethal move.

Two breeds united by destiny could inspire a peaceful new future for their opposing clans—or ignite the fiercest battle yet and destroy all of Deep Creek forever.

Excerpt:

“Go away.” His voice barely a whisper on the thick summer air. “I’ll kill you.”

Alicia gripped the scalpel. She could slide it across his neck in a flash, and it’d be over. No one would have to know. A mercy killing, of sorts. Though she’d be lying to herself to categorize it as such.

Her grandmother’s words echoed. Alicia was a healer, not a killer.

From the looks of the lion’s shirt, already dark, yet now wet with blood, he might not recover even with her best efforts to save him. The scent of gunpowder and burnt flesh peppered the blood-laden air. The lions had left him to die under a bush in bear territory, shot in the shoulder.

She shook her head and settled to the ground on her knees. “I’m not going anywhere.” The strength of her voice hid her fear, though he might sense it anyway. His scent was that of a strong and confident shifter, even in his current state.

He looked at her.

She blinked, trying to calm the adrenaline rush that shot through her. His eyes, mesmerizing and wide, lured her in, and she couldn’t turn away. Deep green or maybe brown or even both, they were a color she’d never seen and his gaze was magnetic. Her mouth went dry.

He was her sworn enemy. Sexy, but injured.

She glanced to the sky, but didn’t see Grandmother Hawk. Typical. Recently, she’d started leaving Alicia to figure out the moral decisions on her own, trusting that she would make the right one.

Part of the training.

“Shit.” The scalpel had warmed in her hands, and the sun glinted off the blade in a flash of silvery-white. What would her grandmother do? No doubt, she’d help the lion. Maybe she wouldn’t tell the bears, who she was loyal to, but she’d never let a lion die if she could heal him. She’d never intentionally let anyone die on her watch.

“War is for the weak minded,” she’d always said. Alicia was beginning to think she was right. Why couldn’t shifters all get along?

Because the damn lions wanted the bears’ territory. If they’d stayed in their own area, none of the bloodshed would’ve happened. Even though Alicia had heard the stories of the lions and bears and wolves sharing the cave, the actuality felt as foreign as items in an ancient history book. As remote as a fairy tale.

Fantasy.

“Go.” He turned away, but she could still see the strain on his face as he winced.

His black hair, falling to his shoulders, was damp and matted. How early in the battle had he been wounded? He was bound to be dehydrated.

“I’m here to help. Like it or not.” She slid the scalpel into its sheath and back into the pocket of her pack. Her earlier assessment was correct. The lion was no threat at the moment. He could barely move. The rise and fall of his chest showed his respirations were high and labored. Blood loss was nearing the severe level.

He needed help before his body went into shock.

She looked back toward the trail to make sure she was alone. If Griff or Derek found out about him, the lion wouldn’t need help anymore and her time as medic would be over.

She’d worry about that another day. She had a lion to save.

Guest Post by Kerry Adrienne:

The art of writing a book blurb

Book Blurbs! The mere mention usually makes authors freak out and doubt their ability to even put a sentence together. Perhaps the only thing worse is the ever-dreaded synopsis!

I mean, really, how do you summarize the high points of a 50-80K word novel in a couple of paragraphs, make it interesting, not give away the plot, and not pull out every hair on your body in the process?

I’ve written a lot of blurbs and edited a lot more. I don’t enjoy it. It’s a ton of pressure and I usually put in too many adjectives and adverbs rather than sticking to the bones of the story.

Who are the main characters, what do they want, and why can’t they have it? And what will make a reader think, I need to read this book!

Sounds easy? It’s not. Not for me. Sometimes, I’ll come up with what seems like a good phrase—then it’s the rest of the blurb that becomes impossible. Sometimes, I ramble about the characters and end up chopping 400 words.

With Carina Press, where my Shifter Wars books are published, I don’t have to stress over the blurb, as they have a team to write them. And I think they do a great job. I cannot tell you how much getting an awesome blurb makes an author go, oh crap! Is my story good enough? And then work even harder to make sure!

Another important thing that blurbs need are keywords for searches. For Shifter Wars, seeing “shifter” and other words is really important. Thankfully, Carina knows all about that, too.

I do have to write the synopsis and the book, though. Haha.

How about you? Do blurbs make you want to read or discard a book? Can blurbs be too long? And which sells a book to you more quickly, a fantastic cover or a great blurb?

Thanks for having me!
Kerry Adrienne

Playing with Fire

by Clare Meyers & Cris Meyers

51qE0iSS3OL._SY346_An interesting beginning to a new series.

Magic, shapeshifting and crime all blend together to make this enjoyable read by husband and wife team, Cris and Clare Meyers.

Talented thief, Renee and her partner, Stone, join a trio of shapeshifters, Rook, Carlos and Grace, to steal a magical gem, and take revenge against the man who set them up on a previous job.
But in their line of work, nothing is quite what it seems.

Although the book is much more about the planning and the action, I did enjoy getting acquainted with the characters and hope to get to know them better in the next book of the series.

Loner Renee Devereaux is a thief with a lot to hide, and trust is a risk she rarely takes. Stone Anders is a mercenary and hitman, but being a hired killer isn’t fitting like it used to. But while they are criminals, they are anything but common. Renee and Stone are Talents, and their supernatural powers give them an edge in a high stakes business where one wrong move could be their last.

It’s always just one job, and everyone scatters—sometimes in less than favorable circumstances. For Renee and Stone, that’s business as usual. But things change.

A chance at revenge draws Renee and Stone into a job they know they shouldn’t take. The job: Steal a dangerous magical artifact before it can be used. Along with the deadline, they’ll have to deal with a loudmouth hacker with problematic connections, a rookie who still believes in ‘right’ and ‘wrong,’ and a professional liar with a cat’s curiosity.

Worse, something just doesn’t feel right.

But this is their job. They have a reputation to maintain, a paycheck to earn, and a score to settle…

Fly by Night

by Clare Meyers & Cris Meyers

31925656The ‘gang’ from book 1, Playing with Fire, are back. They’ve moved on from the events in Seattle, but they haven’t forgotten, or forgiven.

This, the second book in the series is told from Rooks point of view and is a superb sequel.
Rook never knows when to keep his mouth shut and his thoughts to himself, which makes for some great moments. Half the time I wanted to gag him, the rest of the time I wanted to hug him!

The characters all evolve and grow in their own ways, during the story, and we learn more about them, their past and their relationships.

The plot is well thought out, and this book has more action and suspense than the previous one.

I enjoyed Playing with Fire… I loved Fly by Night!

The game has changed.

Rook is a wisecracking hacker, a shapeshifter who prefers the name ‘were-crow,’ and former underling to a Talented crime boss. But as supernatural powers go, he’s no heavy hitter.

After a job blew up in his face, Rook thought the worst thing he’d have to deal with was criminal unemployment. But when he starts losing his mind to mysterious voices, being broke takes a backseat. And once his apartment goes up in smoke, Rook knows he’s in trouble.

Out of his depth and trying to dig his way out of a hole not entirely of his own making, Rook must put his survival—and his sanity—in the hands of people who have their own mysterious reasons for helping him.

With trust in short supply and time ticking down, Rook will need to find a way to make this uneasy alliance work before even more of his life goes up in flames.

Book 2 of the Criminal Elements urban fantasy series

And don’t miss out on Playing with Fire (Book 1)

Code Wolf

by C.D. Gorri

34747449 I really enjoyed this new book from C.D. Gorri.

As with her previous books, it’s set in ‘Grazi Kelly’s world’. This one, however, is definitely not YA!

I loved learning more about Randall, and his unexpected love interest, Tulla, along with Tulla’s special son, Danny.
The book is well-written, easy to read and hard to put down. The descriptive writing allows you to join the fleshed out characters on their adventures.

“He never thought of himself as a family man, but sometimes things changed… ”

Randall Graves spends most of his time writing lines of code in his air-conditioned office at Macconwood Manor. He’d rather be alone than risk involvement of any kind. Everything was going fine, until his Alpha sends him on a forced vacation.

It’s all good with Randall, as long as there’s WIFI at the small, beachfront, bed and breakfast in Bloody Point, South Carolina. He could work and get some sun at the same time, but he wasn’t counting on Tulla Nirvelli. The beautiful single mother owned and operated the small B &B with her seven-year old son.

Charmed by the small island and the young family, Randall finds himself enjoying his time at the Sea Mist Bed & Breakfast. When trouble starts brewing for Tulla and her son, Randall is ready to jump in, but that means revealing his secret. Will she accept the truth about him?

The Name of Death

by Joshua Robertson

33636392 I enjoyed this short story from Joshua Robertson.

It was a well-written and entertaining read.
The characters were fairly well fleshed out for such a short tale.

A good introduction to the authors writing and to the world in his novels, which I look forward to reading.

Drada Koehn is a fearless, formidable fighter ensnared in a presaged war against the northern humans. When the Speaker foretells their victory upon discovery of the name of death, she sets out to unravel the mysterious prophecy. Now, bound by duty and honor, Drada faces untold horrors with her companions, searching for what may never be found. In a story of unexpected twists, she soon finds that her resolve to see the quest done will be the fortune or doom of her people.

Dark Legends

32721381 I enjoyed quite a few of the books in this set and will be looking to read other books by some of the authors.

If you like stories with Dragons, Ghosts, Mermaids, Shifters, Vampires, Witches… and much more, you’re bound to find a story in here that you enjoy.

Some of the stories worked well as standalone reads, while others were obviously part of a series.

As a bunch of the books were steamy (one or two more steam than story) this is definitely an adult only box set.

All in all, this collection of books was good value and a great way to find ‘new-to-me’ authors.

This Collection is packed with more than 20 full-length Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance reads from New York Times, USA Today, and International Bestselling Authors!

Don’t miss this collection of more than twenty unique twists in paranormal romance and urban fantasy, providing over one million words of supernatural suspense that will transport you to new worlds with smoking hot action and heart-throttling adventure!

The DARK LEGENDS boxed set includes: Mermaids, Sirens, Shifters, Vampires, Dragons, Sorcerers, Warriors, Angels, Faeries, Demons, Witches, Psychics, Ghosts, Mythology, Folk Tales, Legends, Dark Magic, Time Travel, and More!
